Foundation for Friendship
Brendan Synnott and Kelly Flatley meet for the first time at the awkward age of 11 at Middlesex Middle School in Darien, CT, and become fast friends. Throughout high school their friendship continues to grow as they both participate in many sports. Brendan is the quarterback of the football team and Kelly captains the tennis team.
Brendan and Kelly go their separate ways after high school graduation and lose touch. Brendan leaves Connecticut to study economics at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee; Kelly heads to San Diego and then to the University of Virginia to study sociology.
May 2000
Reality Sets In
College graduation means it's time to find careers. Riding the wave of excitement surrounding the technology bubble, Brendan heads to Austin, Texas, to work for Trilogy Software. Kelly goes to work for Sports Illustrated in Australia and then in Salt Lake City for the Winter Olympics. Later, following a longstanding interest in entertainment, Brendan moves to New York City to work as a talent manager for Saturday Night Live.
