Reforestation has become very important in recent years. Drought combined with high winds and summer heat have created volatile conditions in many of America’s National Forests, indicated by the massive wildfires that have destroyed millions of acres of forestland.
By planting trees in areas that have been badly burned, we can reduce the amount of time it takes for an area to become forested again. Planting trees as soon as possible after a wildfire is crucial to the health of the forest. However, the process of reforestation involves more than just planting trees.
While forest fires can benefit the ecosystem, the massive fires of recent years have done major damage – damage that won’t heal on its own. Severe wildfires will have long-term effects on the environment.
